Frankfurt, May 30, 2022 - The program of presentations and discussion rounds at thinkport Vienna dealt with the current status and future development of barrier-free horizontal loading of semi-trailers onto rail. The focus was on topics such as achieving climate targets, but also improving the working conditions of truck drivers and the economic benefits for freight forwarders and carriers.
The event was attended by prominent representatives from politics and business. Doris Pulker-Rohrhofer from the Port of Vienna and Davor Sertic from the Vienna Chamber of Commerce spoke about the importance of rail in the transport of semi-trailers. Claudia Nemeth from the Austrian Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology emphasized the important role of barrier-free intermodal transport in achieving climate targets.
Bruno Weissmann, Director of Sales at Helrom, provided information on the current operation of the HELROM Trailer Rail connection between Vienna and Düsseldorf and on the opportunities and background of this new technology and the Helrom concept of barrier-free intermodal transport. From a customer perspective, Christian Wolf from Henkel AG drew a positive interim balance of the cooperation with Helrom and emphasized the advantages and future opportunities of this transport technology.
In addition to discussions and an exchange of experiences, the live demonstration of the loading process at the Port of Vienna was a key part of the event's program. Davor Sertic from the Vienna Chamber of Commerce was very impressed: “I think the system is fantastic, especially for newcomers to intermodal transport, who can take their first step in this way. This system is very innovative and, in my opinion, has a great future in our industry.”
Bruno Weissmann also drew a positive conclusion: "I am delighted that the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber gave us the opportunity to present HELROM Trailer Rail at this event. The great response from politics and business shows that we are on the right track with this concept."
