Frankfurt, September 7, 2022 - "You are supporting smaller companies in the sometimes challenging transition from road to rail," said Davor Sertic, President of Forum Green Logistics and Managing Director of freight forwarder UnitCargo, at the presentation of the Pacemaker Award. His team has been organizing the first intermodal transports using Helrom technology since this summer.
The award-winner sees itself as a trailer railroad for all freight forwarders and for all trailers, including mega trailers. The novelty: thanks to the patented, horizontal freight wagon and terminal technology, a wagon can be loaded and unloaded simply using a tractor unit.
Helrom offers regular connections between economic centers on popular freight transport corridors. As a service provider for small and medium-sized freight forwarders, the company aims to promote the shift from road to rail by offering attractive transport times and high reliability.
The barrier-free, horizontal Trailer Rail loading technology enables truck semi-trailers to be transported over long distances in Europe in a climate-friendly manner. The company was launched in 2018. Since 2021, there have been three round trips per week between Düsseldorf and Vienna.
The special feature of the Helrom system is that the Helrom trolley can pick up cranable and non-cranable trailers by swinging out to the side. The vehicle is loaded onto the swung-out wagon simply and efficiently using a tractor. This means that a complete train can be dispatched in up to 60 minutes.
By the end of 2021, heavy goods traffic in Austria and Germany could be reduced by more than 9,000 truck journeys. For a Helrom train, this results in a saving of up to 778 kilograms of CO2 per journey per semi-trailer. Per train and year, Helrom thus offers environmental relief of up to 9,337 tons of CO2 or 12,000 truck journeys on the corridor.
The Green Logistics Forum was held for the eighth time in 2022 and will be repeated annually until 2030 (15 years - 15 topics). It is a forward-looking, sustainability-oriented knowledge and networking platform that focuses on the transport industry and logistics and was launched by Davor Sertic in 2015. In the long term, the forum aims to help make freight mobility greener, more social and more efficient.
The Pacemaker Award has been presented to an outstanding personality in the field of green logistics every year since 2015. In 2030, the lifetime Pacemaker will be selected and honored from all the award winners of previous years.
